On Friday, April 1, 2005, I was extremely honored and grateful to be featured together with concert pianist, Steven Porter, tenor soloist Zachary Stains, and French linguist Sandrine Calabria in a splendid reception hosted by Dr. Harrison Slater in his 18th century museum-like home in Back Bay. The concert took place in "le salon de musique." My photographic work of the Gaspard de la Nuit , Triptyque (Ondine, Gibet and Scarbo) as well as Réflexions and Mon Ami, La Rose were exhibited; Steven Porter played Ondine from Gaspard de la Nuit by Maurice Ravel; Sandrine Calabria read three poems of Aloysius Bertrand (in French, and in English translation by Paul Doguereau); and Zachary Stains performed Dichterliebe by Schumann and Pourquoi me Réveiller from the opera Werther by Massenet (music) and Goethe (text). Dr. Slater exhibited his pianism, playing Pourquoi me Réveiller and Dichterliebe. Dr. Slater is the author of two books: NightMusic and In Mozart’s Footsteps. He resides in Boston, and Mt. Holly, New Jersey.
Thank you, Dr. Slater, for your gracious encouragement, support, appreciation, and generosity. You are an inspiration to us all.
